Family Child Care: This type of early education and care is delivered in a provider's home. Children in a family child care home may range in age from infant through school age and programs may serve between a maximum of six or ten children (with an additional assistant).
Center Based: This type of early education and care is delivered in a community or school based setting. Center - or School-based early education and care programs can serve children of infant, toddler or preschool age, and include Head Start programs.
- Family Child Care (FCC) which allows up to a maximum of six children;
- Family Child Care Plus (FCCP) which allows up to 8 children so long as at least two of the children are school aged.
- Large Family Child Care (LFCC) which allows for up to 10 children if the provider has an approved assistant working with them. Children may range in age from infant through school age.
After School and Out of School Time Programs:After School and Out of School Time programs are a type of center-based program that serves children at least five years old and under fourteen years old (and children with disabilities under sixteen years old). After school and out of school time programs are generally open before and/or after school and/or during school vacations. Some after school and out of school time programs are privately run in public school building space. These programs are licensed by EEC.
